Aston Villa are exploring the possibility of signing Robert Snodgrass permanently from West Ham in the summer, according to a report.
The Birmingham Mail claims the Villans are keen to keep the midfielder who has made 17 appearances for them this season while on loan.
The midfielder has grabbed three goals and four assists to aid Aston Villa’s promotion push in the Championship this season.
He currently has 25 caps for Scotland and he’s scored seven goals for his country.
Villa currently sit fifth ahead of playing sixth placed Sheffield United on Saturday.
If Aston Villa fail to win and Leeds United defeat Hull City then the Villans will fall out of the play-off places.
Football Insider Verdict
Snodgrass has proven valuable to Aston Villa after moving to them on loan this season. The midfielder had a difficult time in his short spell at West Ham United, and neither party would want to try again. Therefore a deal for the midfielder shouldn’t be too hard to agree. If the Villans get promoted it will be thanks to the efforts of Snodgrass, so it makes sense to reward the midfielder by taking him to the Premiership with them. Snodgrass has played in the top-flight before and his experience could be crucial to a Villa side who would have spent two seasons away from the Premier League by that time.
