Christopher Samba is reportedly training with Aston Villa – and the club’s supporters have expressed contrasting opinions on Twitter about the defender.
Telegraph correspondent John Percy has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the 32-year-old centre-back is currently training with the Midlands giants.
Samba is currently a free agent after a series of injuries meant he left Panathinaikos in January.

He is no stranger to English football after spells with Blackburn and QPR in the Premier League, but is yet to play in the Championship before.
Villa fans have voiced mixed feelings about powerhouse defender Samba as some feel he could be a strong addition if signed on a free, while others feel he would be a pointless signing.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Chris samba training with villa can't be any worse than Elphick as a free agent #AVFC

Samba to #AVFC ? Granted a free agent but certainly highlights an area we should have strengthened in Jan esp. given the back 3 experiment

I'd take Samba if he can prove his fitness. Got to be better than Calamity. We might even pose a threat at set pieces#UTV #vtid#avfc

Having a look at Samba is the least of our worries, not up to it physically positive no short term deal will be fourth coming #avfc

Samba will be hoping to return to full fitness as he trains with Steve Bruce’s side and fans are divided on whether he should be offered a contract.
The experienced defender was regarded as a powerful player in the earlier stages of his career, but has been plagued by injuries recently.
He will hope to be offered a lifeline to reignite his career in England and still has time on his side being just 32.
Villa have been poor defensively under Bruce and they are 17th-placed in the league table, just six points above the relegation places.
They look set to rebuild their team for next season and it’ll be interesting to see if Samba can be involved.
