Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to Leeds beating Birmingham
By Amir Mir
Leeds beat Birmingham City 3-1 on Friday night at St Andrew’s – and Aston Villa fans have mocked their rivals for not turning up to the game.
There were just over 20,000 fans at the match, with over 3,000 away supporters present as their side claimed a valuable three points in their race for promotion.
Striker Chris Wood opened the scoring in the first half, beautifully dinking the ball over the Blues goalkeeper.
After a quiet and poor end to the first period, Gianfranco Zola’s side struck back through midfielder Craig Gardner.
However, in-form Wood showed his class by putting his team into the lead three minutes later with substitute Kalvin Phillips making a difference when he came on.

After that, substitute Alfonso Pedraza, who moved to the club in January, netted his first goal for the club to the delight of the away support.
Villa fans on Twitter were enjoying seeing their second city rivals get beat as many mocked the number of empty seats in the stadium.
One fan even pointed out that if Steve Bruce’s side beat rock-bottom Rotherham on Saturday afternoon then they will go above their rivals in the table.
Overall, it is no surprise that the Villa Park faithful enjoyed the Whites beating the Blues in their own back yard.
