Ashley Westwood was substituted at half-time as Aston Villa were beaten 1-0 at Cardiff – and fans on Twitter slammed his performance.
Joe Ralls scored the only goal of the game from a corner after 16 minutes, in a half dominated by the home team.
As a result, manager Steve Bruce substituted midfield duo Westwood and Gary Gardner at the interval as Aaron Tshibola and Gabby Agbonlahor were brought on in their place.
It is fair to say the Villa faithful on social media were not too pleased with Westwood’s display as they criticised him for another shocking performance.
Supporters questioned why Tshibola, who was brought on after the break, does not get ahead of Westwood and Gardner in the starting XI.
While another fan pointed out that after Westwood and Gardner were taken off, Bruce’s side began to play better.
Additionally, another supporter questioned why managers who join the club continue to pick the 26-year-old.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
how do Gardner and Westwood continue to be chosen ahead of Tshibola, he offers a goal threat!?!#avfc

One more thing. Every manager that's come into the club seems to pick Westwood… Why??? #AVFC

Bruce doesn't help himself bringing on Gabby when Ayew was there. I hope after the window we've seen the end of Gardner and Westwood. #avfc

Absolute rubbish. Bruce you will never win a game with Westwood and Gardner starting! Disgraceful treatment of Ayew #AVFC

Westwood has played 22 Championship games this season, failing to score a goal or provide a single assist for his team.
He has started seven games since Bruce’s arrival in mid-October and Villa have won only one of those games.
Bruce’s men will now travel to White Hart Lane to take on Premier League title chasers Tottenham in an FA Cup fixture on Sunday afternoon.
The duo met on two occasions last term when Villa were a top tier side with Mauricio Pochettino’s men picking up two wins.
In other Aston Villa news, this senior player was exposed against Cardiff.
