Aston Villa take on Huddersfield Town in a Championship clash on Tuesday night – and fans want Jordan Amavi to start the game.
The 22-year-old came on as a first-half substitute during the club’s 2-0 win over Rotherham at the weekend after two Villa players had gone off injured.
Midfielder Birkir Bjarnason started the match on the left wing but picked up an injury after 33 minutes, with his replacement Jack Grealish following suit 11 minutes later.
This follows the hamstring injury suffered by Andre Green who had been playing in that role for the club during their previous games prior to the win against the Millers.
Furthermore, Jonathan Kodjia, who can also play on the left-hand side of attack, is the only fit and available striker at the club so he won’t be able to occupy that role.
Therefore, fans have urged manager Steve Bruce to start Amavi who usually plays at a left-back but he is seen as more attack minded.
Amavi has been inconsistent this season with the defensive side of his game coming under scrutiny which saw him dropped from the starting XI.
Supporters believe playing the Frenchman further up the field is logical, makes sense and he can provide that balance to the team.
Overall, with the injuries mounting up, the Villa Park faithful were more than happy to see Amavi start against the Terriers.

Interested to see Amavi out wide. He'll give good balance. Think that could be his position.

Tommy Smith Huddersfield RB has 9 assists so having Amavi at left wing might be a blessing #avfc

makes a lot of sense away and win our injuries. Might turn out to be a good combo down the left

Hopefully Bruce doesn’t change the side around too much, just bring Amavi in on the left and go same again. #avfc

This season, Amavi has played 27 games in all competitions, supplying one assist for the club as he is yet to get off the mark with a goal.
His last start for the club came during their 3-1 home defeat against Barnsley where he conceded a penalty.
In other Aston Villa team news, Conor Hourihane has stated that this 26-year-old is the outstanding player in the team.
