Man United have 'opened the door' for Aston Villa to land Tuanzebe after Sky update
Man United’s breakthrough in their pursuit of Raphael Varane has “opened the door” for Axel Tuanzebe to move to Aston Villa.
That is according to ex-Premier League shot-stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Sky Sports reported on 13th July that United have been given permission to discuss personal terms with Varane.
The Frenchman’s arrival from Real Madrid would knock Tuanzebe, whose deal runs out next summer, further down the Old Trafford centre-back pecking order.
This site revealed on 5th July that Villa have been given encouragement by United that they are planning to let Tuanzebe, 23, go in this window.
That came after Football Insider first broke news on 29th June that Villa have a “concrete” interest in signing the former England Under-21 man.
And, according to Kenny, Varane’s potential arrival could herald Tuanzebe’s departure to Villa Park.

“That’s what you find this time of year, players coming and going,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“Someone will come in and fill a certain position and players from that position will be knocked down the pecking order.
“It makes sense that they might want to find somewhere else for him, a new club.
“So it’s definitely a possibility now that’s opened the door and he can have the opportunity to get the deal sorted at Aston Villa.“
Tuanzebe featured 19 times for United in all competitions last season.
He won promotion with Villa during a loan stretch in the 2018-19 camaign.
