Sources: Aston Villa and Leicester City make approaches for Ibrahim Sangare

Aston Villa and Leicester City have enquired about signing PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, sources have told Football Insider.

The Ivory Coast international, 24, is firmly on the radar of the Premier League duo in the final weeks of the summer window.

Villa and Leicester have both made contact with PSV to register their interest in Sangare, who is valued at over £20m by the Dutch club.

He has three years remaining on his contract.

Sangare is a central midfielder who joined PSV from French club Toulouse for around £6m in the summer of 2020.

Villa and Leicester are in the market for a midfielder amid doubts over the futures of their own midfield kingpins Douglas Luiz and Youri Tielemans.

Both players have been linked with summer departures, with Tielemans rejecting Leicester contract offers as he holds out for transfer to Arsenal before the deadline at the end of August.

Sangare was a mainstay of the team that narrowly lost the Dutch Eredivsie title to Ajax last season by two points.

He made 48 appearances in all competitions, including 26 league starts and matches in Champions League qualifiers, the Europa League and European Conference League.

Sangare is a defensive midfielder, but still weighed in with four goals and four assists from his 4,087 minutes of PSV action last term.

The former Ligue 1 star is also an experienced Ivory Coast international with 24 appearances and five goals for the national team.
