Aston Villa make enquiries for 25-year-old from PL giants in stunning move - report
By Harvey Byrne
Aston Villa have made enquiries for midfielder Jack Wilshere from Arsenal in what would be a stunning move for the Midlands giants, according to a report.
The Mirror have claimed on their website that manager Steve Bruce is hoping a big contract and bonuses could tempt the 25-year-old playmaker to make the switch to the Championship after already enticing John Terry to the club.
It is also said that the experienced manager has a strong relationship with Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger after being involved in deals which saw the likes of Nicklas Bendtner, Fabrice Muamba and Jermaine Pennant join his clubs in the past.
However, the Gunners are believed to be looking at a potentially big fee for their youth graduate who has been told he can leave this summer as he enters the final year of his contract.
Wilshere spent the last season on loan at Bournemouth in the Premier League, where he played 29 times, providing two assists, but it remains to be seen whether he would step down to England’s second tier, especially in a World Cup year.

Football Insider verdict:
Aston Villa signing Wilshere would be one of the best deals a Championship club has ever made. There has never been any doubt over the 34-time capped England international’s talents and only injury has prevented him from reaching his early potential. However, he may be out of Aston Villa’s reach in the Championship due to him still being in the frame for next summer’s World Cup squad, but he needs to play regularly in the Premier League, or another top-flight. This link will go to show how important it is for Villa to return to England’s top-flight as soon as possible, as they are now likely to miss out on a very talented player.
