Aston Villa midfielder has deal cut short - confirmed

By Danny Wright

MK Dons have confirmed that they have cut short the loan deal of Aaron Tshibola and he has returned to Aston Villa.

Tshibola, 22, was on a season-long temporary deal in Milton Keynes but has been sent back to his parent club by manager Robbie Nielson after a dire run of form.

The League One club announced the news on their official Twitter account on Thursday morning.

Tshibola made 16 appearances across all competitions for MK Dons, scoring one goal and supplying one assist in the process.

It’s unlikely that his return to Villa Park will see him give Steve Bruce any reason to put him back into the first-team, especially given his performances in League One that appear to have been so bad that it forced Nielson to sever his deal.

The former Reading midfielder has only made 10 appearances for Aston Villa since signing for them in July 2016.

Already, he has been shipped out twice on loan after failing to make the mark in the West Midlands with him also spending a spell at Nottingham Forest last term that saw him play just four times.

Football Insider Verdict

Tshibola seems like one of them Villa signings that fans have probably already completely forgotten about. He is yet to show any signs that he will ever become a regular first-team player and his latest aberration at MK Dons shows that he isn’t even cut out for League One football, let alone a team chasing promotion to the Premier League. It will be best for all parties if the Villains just try to get rid of him for good, but the length of his contract may be an issue as he was handed a four-year deal when he first signed. Yet again, this was a risk gone wrong for Villa, who may be stuck pay his wages until 2020.
