Hutton makes bold Aston Villa prediction after 'top-quality' Bailey signing
Alan Hutton has claimed Aston Villa will be targeting a European place after the “top-quality” signing of Leon Bailey.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Villa defender suggested the 23-year-old could lift Dean SMith’s men from 11th into the top-six.
As confirmed by Aston Villa today (August 4th), Bailey has signed a four-year deal to complete his move to England.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (August 2), the Jamaica international had undertaken a medical in Florida.
It is understood the fee is worth up to £35million including add-ons.
Asked where he saw Bailey fitting in, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Obviously he can play on the left, on the right, cut in on his left foot. He loves a shot.

“Really, he can play any wide position. I think having that versatile player can always be good and always be an option for a manager.
“He had great numbers last season in a very good and competitive league in Germany. They’re getting a top-quality player.
“He’s still only young at 23 so he’s going to improve and that’s the best thing about him. He’s going to get better playing alongside some top players.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how he does and it shows you the direction Aston Villa are moving in and the type of players they’re looking at.
“They’ll be looking at finishing in the European places this season, which is great for the fans.”
Bailey scored 39 goals and contributed 22 assists in three-and-a-half seasons for Leverkusen.
The deal comes at a time when Jack Grealish looks set to complete a move to Manchester City.
