Kenny reveals Aston Villa dressing room take after what he's 'heard' about Young

Ashley Young will prove to be a superb addition for Aston Villa both on the pitch and in the dressing room.

That is according to ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 35-year-old left-sided man.

Villa confirmed on 17th June that they had re-signed Young from Inter Milan on a free transfer and the ex-Man United ace penned a one-year deal.

The 39-cap England international featured 26 times as Inter won Serie A for the first time in a decade in 2020-21.

It was the sixth major honour of Young’s career in which has he has racked up a total of 620 appearances for four different clubs.

Kenny claimed Young’s vast experience will be a boost to Dean Smith’s “ambitious” side as they look to build on an 11th-place finish last term.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “I’ve heard in the game he comes across as the sort of bloke who’ll be great to have in the dressing room.

“He’s experienced and you can’t beat experience. He’s still got the legs, that physicality, and he can still run too.

“He’s gone to Inter Milan and won the title so what a signing that is to get him back after so long.

“I’m sure he’ll be a massive addition to their squad. They are looking ambitious and Dean Smith could have a really good season with them.

Young began his career with Watford before signing for Villa in 2007.

He would spend four years at Villa Park and score 37 goals in 190 appearances.
