Aston Villa talisman Jonathan Kodjia has assured fans that he will be ‘back in no time’ after suffering an injury against Burton on Saturday.

The 27-year-old took to his personal Twitter account on Sunday morning to ease the nerves of the Aston Villa supporters, who had been sweating frantically over the severity of an injury to their star man.

He said: “Thanks for the messages much appreciated. Feeling sore this morning but the physio will get me back in no time. We go again next week.”

The exact nature of the injury is unclear, although it was claimed by Birmingham Mail reporter Gregg Evans during the game that Kodjia may have suffered a hamstring injury.

BBC Sport meanwhile, hint that the Ivorian goalscorer limped off with a dead leg, where he was replaced by January signing Scott Hogan.

Nevertheless, the news that Aston Villa’s star performer could be set for a spell on the sidelines left fans in meltdown, but Kodjia’s encouraging Twitter message should ease their fears.

Kodjia has scored 19 goals for the Championship club this season, and found the back of the net for the club in their 1-1 draw with Burton on Saturday, before being hit by injury.

They are next in action against Reading on Saturday, with their opponents having been thumped 7-1 by Norwich this weekend.
