Aston Villa will 'qualify for Europe' after journalist's Bissouma update - pundit

Aston Villa have “a real chance” of qualifying for Europe this season if they sign Yves Bissouma from Brighton, according to Paul Robinson.

The former Spurs and England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said a window in which Villa sign Bissouma, 25, Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Digne would be “absolutely phenomenal”.

Steven Gerrard’s side have already completed the signing of Coutinho and announced Digne’s arrival earlier today.

According The Telegraph‘s Sam Wallace (12 January), Villa are also interested in signing Brighton midfielder Bissouma.

It is said that the Mali international would likely command a fee of £40million.

Bissouma has 18 months left on his contract with the Seagulls.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on Bissouma’s potential arrival, Robinson said:

“If they can get Bissouma along with Digne and Coutinho it would be an absolutely phenomenal window from Villa. That would be everything and more than Steven would have asked for, I’m sure.

“It would be a huge addition of quality to that squad. Three players who would walk straight into their starting XI. Players who would add goals to their side but also make them harder to beat.

“The Digne deal is very impressive for the price. In regards to Coutinho, I imagine they had a lot of competition from other clubs.

“If you add Bissouma to that mix there is a real chance of Villa qualifying for Europe this season.”
