Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Leon Bailey to feature for Aston Villa against Wolves.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa's record Premier League goalscorer insisted "fans want to see" Bailey who "gets people off their seats".

The summer signing has not featured for Dean Smith's side since his devastating cameo against Everton last summer.

Smith delivered the latest update on his fitness just before the international break when he revealed he is hopeful he can feature against Wolves.

Asked whether he expected Bailey to feature against Villa's local rivals, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: "100 per cent.

"Leon Bailey is what Aston Villa fans want to see. If you asked any Aston Villa fan which player do you want to see start out of all our attacking players and wingers? It would be Leon Bailey.

"The performances when he came on against Everton is what we have been missing for years. Someone really quick and direct. He showed within the space of 20 minutes what he can do.

"Emi Buendia is a great player but, for me, I'm finding a place for Leon Bailey before Buendia because of that pace.

"Aston Villa fans used to enjoy when I used to play, it's that pace, that directness it gets people off their seats. Leon Bailey did exactly that.

"Everyone has seen the clips of him at Bayer Leverkusen and Jamaica, he's got trickery, he can play off the left or the right, he can cut in.

"He's just the perfect player. It could be one where Bailey is on the right and Buendia is on the left, but just inside so he can come in and play.

"There are many formations that Dean Smith can play. Leon Bailey is the standout player for me."
