Barry tipped to join new club in January after Aston Villa reveal - Agbonlahor
Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Louie Barry could return to Aston Villa from Ipswich Town in January and join a League Two side on loan.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer and lifelong fan cited his own experience out on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and Watford where he did not feature much but learnt a lot.
Barry moved to Ipswich over the summer but has not featured in League One since August – partly due to injury.
Birmingham Live’s Ashley Preece reported (October 6) that Villa can recall the 18-year-old in January and a possible loan move to a League Two side is an option.
“I like to look at the young players at Aston Villa, I check the lineups and the commentary on their games,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.
“Every time I check, I don’t even see him on the bench, never mind starting which is very strange.

“I can relate to that. I went to Sheffield Wednesday and Watford and barely played. If I’m Louie Barry, I’d think ‘Ok, that’s fine. I’m going to come back in January or earlier if I’m allowed and go somewhere else’. This loan will not put him off.
“He just has to go somewhere where a manager will play him week in, week out. If that’s League Two, rather than League One so be it, at least you’re getting games.
“I went on loan and didn’t play and then came back and within a few weeks, I was starting in the Premier League.
“Not to worry, for him. It’s just a bit frustrating for him when he sees other players getting first-team games in the Cup.
“You learn a lot. You learn that football’s not easy. He was probably on top of the world recently. But sometimes in football, you have down parts in your career.
“He’ll come back stronger and learn from this. When he comes back to Villa he’ll choose the right manager and the right club. Maybe it wasn’t the right fit for him.”
