Aston Villa target Antonio Nusa featured as Norway stunned five-time champions Brazil 2-1 on Sunday to progress to the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

Erling Haaland's brace saw Neymar's late penalty prove inconsequential, with Stale Solbakken's team set to take on England for a chance to reach the semi-final.

Nusa is among several wide men Villa are reportedly looking at this summer to bolster their attack, after Jadon Sancho's loan came to an end.

The 21-year-old is under contract at RB Leipzig until 2029, and is set to be available for a fee in the region of £43million this summer.

Despite having won the Europa League and qualified for the Champions League, financial restrictions remain in place at Villa Park.

The potential sale of Morgan Rogers, who is of significant interest to Arsenal, however, would pack the coffers and allow moves for the likes of Nusa.

Nusa hit the headlines when he scored a stunning goal in Norway's 2-1 win over Ivory Coast to reach the last 16.

The winger had picked up the ball before dribbling inside and curling a beautiful shot into the top corner.

Brazil had clearly done their homework and knew that the 21-year-old would attempt to repeat the trick. They were ready for it, and Nusa was surrounded every time he attempted to cut in.

The RB Leipzig man remained a handful in the first half but was ultimately substituted at half-time for Andreas Schjelderup, who would provide assists for both of Haaland's goals.

Norwegian outlet Iharstad gave Nusa a 4 out of 10 rating for his efforts, and wrote that it was "unfortunately a disappointing half by the Leipzig star".

"Played a life-threatening foul after 24 minutes when he lost the ball and allowed Brazil to counter two against two," they continued. "Should send flowers to David Møller Wolfe, who did a fantastic defensive job in a duel with [Matheus] Cunha.

"A semi-dangerous cross against Haaland in the first half, but never managed to conjure up moments on his own like he does at his best. Was taken off already at half-time."

Aston Villa given reason to look elsewhere

Nusa's replacement at half-time, Schjelderup, is also expected to be on the move to the Premier League this summer.

The 22-year-old has two years remaining on his contract at Benfica, and should be available for a slightly cheaper fee.

On Sunday, he was excellent off the bench, providing a stunning cross for Haaland's opener before finding the striker for his second.

Were Villa watching, they may have ended the game with serious thoughts about an opening bid for Schjelderup, instead of Nusa.
