Morgan Rogers looks set to star for England at the World Cup this summer as he is linked away from Aston Villa.

The 23-year-old was key to Villa's Champions League qualification last term and a shoo-in to Thomas Tuchel's England squad this summer.

He has picked up 14 caps for his country since debuting in November 2024, and is in direct competition with Jude Bellingham to start in North America.

Tuchel is likely set to choose only one of the duo to feature from the off in attacking midfield against Croatia in England's World Cup opener next week.

Rogers is a leading contender among Premier League players to pick up the most assists at the tournament this summer.

He has registered 24 assists over his last two full seasons at Villa Park, with one in their Europa League final win over Freiburg last month.

The 23-year-old has notched just one assist in his 14 England caps so far, but will be confident of making an impact if he is handed a starting berth in several World Cup games.

What are Morgan Rogers' odds of registering the most World Cup assists?

The 2022 World Cup saw Antoine Griezmann, Lionel Messi, Bruno Fernandes, Harry Kane and Ivan Perisic all register the most assists, with three each.

France's Raymond Kopa is believed to hold the record for the most assists in a single World Cup tournament, with eight in 1958.

Rogers is currently priced at 40/1 to come top of this particular statistic at the 2026 tournament with one of the UK's leading bookmakers.

Man United and Portugal star Bruno Fernandes is the top contender, at 10/1 odds, while Man City and Belgium winger Jeremy Doku is 14/1.

Florian Wirtz (20/1), Rayan Cherki (25/1), Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice (both 33/1) are all above Rogers in the current odds with the same bookmakers too.

Stefan Borson reveals Morgan Rogers to Man City transfer reality amid buy-back claim

He has insisted this week that the "noise" about a potential move away will not impact his performances at the World Cup.

It certainly looks as if a deal will be agreed after the tournament, with sources revealing to Football Insider that Man City admire Rogers but will have to choose whether to try and sign him or Elliot Anderson.

He currently seems most likely to join Arsenal, as they work on a deal that could cost over £100million to complete.
