Sources: Juventus plan to accept new Douglas Luiz offer after Aston Villa decision
Juventus are planning to accept new offers for Douglas Luiz after Aston Villa decided against making his loan move permanent this summer.
The 28-year-old endured a frustrating season which saw him sent back to Turin from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest, before Villa took a chance on him in January.
However, his return to Villa Park did not go to plan, and Unai Emery now has no intention of keeping him at the club beyond the end of his short spell.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Villa's snub has thrown Luiz's future up in the air with Juventus hopeful of a permanent sale.
A number of Premier League clubs have shown renewed interest in his situation, but after a frustrating season in England, doubts have begun to creep in.
Instead, moves to both Saudi Arabia and Turkey have been mooted, despite interest lingering from clubs in England and across European football.
Why are Aston Villa letting Douglas Luiz go?
Football Insider reported in March that qualification for the Champions League could be key to Villa signing Luiz given the finances involved in the potential deal.
However, despite reaching Europe's premier competition, they have opted against pursuing a move after what was a disappointing loan spell in which he was used sparingly.
Aston Villa had a £21.9million option to buy in their loan deal, but have not decided to trigger it, instead planning to focus their attention on other additions.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Multiple clubs were initially linked with him last summer before he made that move to Nottingham Forest and then Aston Villa.
"He had a disappointing time, spending the first half of the season on loan at Forest, they sent him back to Juventus, then he ended up going back on loan to Aston Villa.
"He didn't play as many minutes as he hoped to, and Villa have now decided not to take up the option to sign him on a permanent basis as well.
"So now he's back in Turin, it'll be interesting to see what Juventus have in store for him as well. They would be open to letting him move on permanently if there is interest."
Who could make a move to sign Luiz from Juventus?
Aston Villa were not the only team considering a move for Luiz this summer, with the Brazil midfielder featuring on the radar of multiple English clubs.
When he became available last summer, his agent held talks with multiple clubs before ultimately ending up on loan at Nottingham Forest.
One of the interested clubs was Leeds United, but Football Insider revealed on 13 June that Daniel Farke's side are no longer keen to sign Luiz this summer.
Despite having considered bringing him to Elland Road last year, they have instead set their sights on alternative midfield options, with younger talents on their radar.
That may now be the case for multiple clubs who have previously shown an interest, but will now look elsewhere after a poor season in the Premier League.
