Sources: Unai Emery has new Aston Villa plan for Alejandro Garnacho
Unai Emery has no plans to let Alejandro Garnacho leave Aston Villa in the near future, sources have told Football Insider.
The 22-year-old has endured a difficult start to life at Villa Park since joining on loan from Chelsea in the summer, leading to speculation about his future at the club.
So far this season, he has played just 31 minutes of football across three substitute appearances, and has been an unused substitute in each of their last four games.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Emery is willing to give Garnacho time to adapt to his style of play and the new demands on him.
The boss has previously been known for taking his time with bedding in new players, as he has high expectations and demands the players meet his standards on the pitch.
Garnacho still has some work to do to prove to Emery he deserves a place in the starting XI, but as things stand, there has been no decision made about his future at Aston Villa.
How do Aston Villa feel about Alejandro Garnacho's future?
Former Aston Villa scout Bryan King told Football Insider on 22 September that Garnacho's struggles at Villa Park are likely to be linked to attitude issues.
The situation has some similarities to the Harvey Elliott situation last season, which saw the midfielder completely dropped from the team as Villa looked to avoid paying the obligation.
However, there are not beloeved to be any major concerns at Villa Park, with Emery willing to give Garnacho time to impress and work his way back into his first-team plans.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Garnacho hasn’t been playing for Villa. I think he's 31 minutes he's played for Villa across three substitute appearances.
"He's been an unused sub for Villa's past four matches as well. So look, he's obviously struggling to win the faith of Unai Emery.
"I don't think it's all doom and gloom for him because we know Unai Emery does like to ease new players into his teams.
"He needs them to understand their roles and his methods before having full faith in them, and he expects Garnacho to do the same to catch up with his new teammates.
"I wouldn't write him off just yet and I don't think Villa are writing him off, they'll still be hoping that he can have an impact in Emery's side."
Could Aston Villa sign Garnacho permanently?
Alongside the question marks about Garnacho's role in the Aston Villa side, there has also been speculation about his long-term future and a possible permanent move.
The 22-year-old joined the Villans from Chelsea in the summer, signing initially on loan with an conditional obligation to buy worth around £43million next summer.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 15 September that Aston Villa have plans in place to make Garnacho's move permanent next summer.
This comes after Emery revealed the winger will be at Villa Park for a "long time" as he attempted to explain his lack of involvement in their opening Premier League games.
However, after a slow start to life at Villa Park, there will be questions asked if the club are already planning to make Garnacho's stay a permanent one.
