Aston Villa 'doing everything’ to stop Ezri Konsa joining Arsenal

Aston Villa centre-back Ezri Konsa would find a potential move to Arsenal “attractive,” sources have told Football Insider. 

The Villans are fighting hard in an attempt to keep the England international away from the reigning Premier League champions, and are working on a possible new contract for him.

Unai Emery’s side have also placed a significant £60million price tag on the 28-year-old’s head, in a bid to ward off the interest. 

Sources have indicated that Villa are doing “everything they can” to keep hold of Konsa, and convince him that they can match his ambitions in the coming years. 

Nevertheless, it is understood that the chance to move to the Emirates Stadium would be appealing for the defender. 

Mikel Arteta’s side are hoping to dominate the Premier League in the coming years, and also have their eyes fixed on Champions League glory after last season’s disappointment. 

Aston Villa determined to keep Ezri Konsa

Villa’s transfer business has been heavily restrained by their SCR standing once again this summer, but they are not prepared to bow down to it when it comes to Konsa. 

The British record sale of Morgan Rogers to Chelsea helped to boost their coffers, as did the more moderate sum received from Youri Tielemans’ move to Manchester United. 

However, in that pair of stars, Villa have lost two genuine key men from Emery’s group, and they are determined to ensure that Konsa doesn’t join that list. 

Arsenal remain significantly short of the second city outfit’s valuation of the centre-back, who has gone from strength to strength in recent years. 

Konsa’s performances for both Villa and England have seen him thrust into the spotlight in recent years, and that has prompted attention from the leading club in the Premier League.

Aston Villa to accept offer for star with buy-back

Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Villa are open to offers for highly-rated right-back Triston Rowe in the final stages of the summer window. 

The 19-year-old has been subject to interest from clubs in the Championship and across Europe in recent weeks, with Villa potentially ready to cash in. 

However, sources say that the second city outfit would want to include a buy-back clause as part of any agreement, giving them the chance to re-sign Rowe later down the line. 

Villa have already sold several talented youngsters so far this summer, and Rowe could be the latest to be shown the door.
