Behdad Eghbali and Nassef Sawiris have 'cooked up' Aston Villa-Chelsea transfer chain with multiple deals to come
Aston Villa are eyeing up potential moves for several Chelsea players after sanctioning the sale of Morgan Rogers.
That is according to former Villa chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that more deals between the two clubs are imminent as part of an SCR "plot."
Chelsea have splashed a British record £117million fee to land Rogers, and are now facing strong interest from Villa in both Alejandro Garnacho and Nicolas Jackson.
Wyness believes that both players are part of a plan between the two clubs to help balance each other's financial standings behind the scenes.
The Scottish businessman is adamant that the plan is "much bigger" than merely the sale of Rogers, and expects more transfers to follow in the coming days.
Villa are already closing in on a loan-to-buy deal for Garnacho, and have long-term target Jackson in their sights again at the moment.
Keith Wyness reveals Nassef Sawiris talks
Villa's former chief Wyness - who served as CEO at Villa Park between 2016 and 2018 and now runs a consultancy business advising elite clubs - believes that the plan was formed during direct talks between Villa owner Nassef Sawiris and Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali.
Recent reports have suggested that the pair met up for direct discussions ahead of the Rogers sale, and several links between the two clubs have since emerged.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness emphasised that more deals are likely to be just around the corner.
"What's emerging is obviously quite an interesting story about how Eghbali, the Chelsea owner, and Nassef Sawiris from Villa have got together and plotted this themselves," he said.
"There's a lot more to it than just one big transfer of Rogers down to Chelsea. There seems to be players going the other way as well. And that's something that obviously seems to have been cooked up pretty well between the two clubs.
"They've both got PSR issues, so they've both realised some decent value for the players that they're swapping and selling.
"It does seem to be a much bigger than a one-player package, certainly. And there's no doubt that those have to be the purchases made by both clubs."
Alejandro Garnacho loan fee revealed
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday that Villa are now in advanced talks with Chelsea over a deal for Garnacho, who has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge.
Unai Emery and Co. are looking to take the Argentine on an initial loan deal, but the Blues are pushing to have an option to buy included as part of the deal.
The West Londoners are also looking for a £5m loan fee up front, with the two clubs still locked in ongoing negotiations.
The 22-year-old made 24 appearances for Chelsea in the Premier League last term, and ended the campaign with one goal and four assists to his name.
