Tottenham Hotspur have seen their odds of completing the signing of Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez slashed going into the final weeks of the transfer window.

One UK bookmaker has placed Spurs as the new favourites to complete a deal for the 33-year-old goalkeeper, at 3/1 odds.

This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed that Tottenham are lining up a move to sign Martinez.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side are exploring a deal for the Argentina international after Guglielmo Vicario joined Juventus on loan.

Villa are believed to be open to selling Martinez before the transfer window closes.

Unai Emery’s side have recently brought in Zion Suzuki, who is believed to be the club’s new number one for the new campaign.

Tottenham could finally solve goalkeeping issues for Emi Martinez

Spurs’ issues in the net have plagued their recent campaigns.

Ever since Hugo Lloris departed the club, Tottenham have not had a consistently reliable shot-stopper.

Last season, both Vicario and Antonin Kinsky made multiple mistakes which cost the North London club games and points.

However, if they are able to get a deal over the line for Martinez, De Zerbi will hope this settles the issues.

The Argentina international has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world at Villa Park, and won the Europa League last season.

However, it remains to be seen if Spurs are able to get a deal over the line for the Villa star.

Who else is linked with Martinez?

While Spurs may be the favourites to sign Martinez, they are not the only ones in the race for his signature.

A potential move to Saudi Arabia is set at 6/1 odds, while a move to Juventus is placed at 8/1.

A shock move to Chelsea is yet to be ruled out, with one bookmaker believing it has a 10/1 chance of happening.

PSG are considered potential outsiders at 14/1, in what could be a surprise move at the end of the window.

Remaining at Aston Villa is also yet to be ruled out, with the goalkeeper’s stay at Villa Park placed at 15/8.

However, this seems less likely per day, especially now that Suzuki has signed for the Birmingham outfit.
