Ismael Saibari's 100% and 92% Morocco stats vs Brazil proves he's the perfect Aston Villa signing
Ismael Saibari was Morocco’s star performer in their 1-1 draw against Brazil as he showed Aston Villa that he could be their perfect signing this summer.
The 25-year-old striker netted the opener at MetLife Stadium with a lovely dink over Alisson.
This performance was a continuation of his form for PSV Eindhoven, where he netted 15 goals in 27 games in the league as they won the Eredivisie title.
Now, his display against Brazil in the World Cup showed that he could be the perfect Ollie Watkins successor at Aston Villa.
The England international has been heavily linked with a departure from the Birmingham outfit this summer.
Watkins is set to hit 31 years old later this year, and Villa may be tempted to cash in on their star forward.
Ismael Saibari was excellent vs Brazil
Against Brazil, Saibari was a constant menace.
The striker caused all sorts of problems for the South American outfit, despite their backline boasting the likes of Arsenal’s Gabriel and PSG’s Marquinhos.
His stats were outstanding, and he was clearly one of the best players on the pitch, which should alert the likes of Aston Villa.
Against Brazil, had the joint-most shots at three, an xG of 0.72, a 92 per cent passing accuracy, a 100 per cent dribble success rate and made three passes into the final third.
Therefore, Villa should be all over a move for the Eredivisie Player of the Season as they search for a long-term successor for Watkins.
Will Ollie Watkins leave Aston Villa this summer?
Watkins’ future at Aston Villa look increasingly doubtful this summer.
While the striker has been away with England this summer, Villa have been linked with the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy.
This will be alarming for Watkins, with a player of his calibre unlikely to want to sit on the bench next season.
With Tammy Abraham also recently signing for the club, if another striker comes through the door, it will surely mean the England international is on the way out.
However, it remains to be seen if Watkins has played his last game for Villa or if he will once again be leading the line for the 2026-27 campaign.
