Sources: Aston Villa plan to accept Emiliano Martinez offer amid Ezri Konsa exit update

Aston Villa are willing to lose Emiliano Martinez this summer in order to keep hold of Ezri Konsa, sources have told Football Insider.

Going into the final weeks of the window, the futures of both the goalkeeper and the centre-back are up in the air.

Sources say one of the Villa stars is likely to leave before the summer window shuts as the club face the prospect of losing yet another key starter.

Arsenal have pursued England international Konsa and made contact over a potential summer deal.

However, Villa would prefer to sell their long-established number one, with the Saudi Pro League the most likely destination for the Argentina international.

Unai Emery’s side are expected to do business with clubs in Saudi Arabia over the coming weeks, with Leon Bailey also likely to make the move to the league.

Since moving to Aston Villa in 2020, Martinez has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

The 33-year-old has been a mainstay in Aston Villa’s starting XI and has been vital to their rise up the Premier League table.

On top of this, he has won numerous trophies with Argentina, including the 2022 World Cup.

Even last season, his performances in the Premier League on the whole were excellent.

According to Fotmob on 5 August, the goalkeeper had a save percentage rate of 70.9, the joint-second highest in the division, and a goal prevention rate of 3.5, the third highest in the Premier League.

On top of this, he was also averaging 3.02 saves and 1.24 goals conceded per 90 minutes.

Therefore, if Villa are to sell Martinez this summer, they might have a hard time finding a suitable replacement.

Who could Aston Villa replace Martinez with?

Football Insider exclusively revealed that Aston Villa are keeping tabs on Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.

The Japan international heavily impressed in the 2026 World Cup as he put in a string of wonderful displays.

Suzuki is believed to be on Villa’s shortlist of goalkeepers if Martinez is to depart the club in the coming weeks.
