Unai Emery has been left frustrated at Aston Villa as Ezri Konsa finalises a move to Arsenal, sources have told Football Insider.

While the deal has not yet been announced, Villa have begun searching for a replacement, with their squad having been dented by yet another major departure this summer.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Emery is concerned about having lost major assets from his Aston Villa squad this summer.

Konsa is the latest big name to leave Villa Park this summer, following the departures of Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans and Lucas Digne, with others expected to follow.

Following last season's Europa League victory, Aston Villa are preparing to challenge in the Champions League, but a turbulent summer has dented their ambitions.

Why is Unai Emery frustrated at Aston Villa?

Former Aston Villa scout Mick Brown told Football Insider last month that Emery had no plans to sell Konsa and was very reluctant to lose another star player from his side.

Continued major departues have raised fresh concerns for the manager, who was reportedly already frustrated by Aston Villa's lack of activity in previous windows.

While he understands the club are struggling to deal with financial restraints, the continued sales of his best players has led to questions about Emery's future.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "That's got to be a serious concern for Unai Emery. He knows what he's having to deal with obviously financial restrictions.

"Villa, for the last couple of seasons, have been forced to lose some of their best players as well, just to help balance the books.

"Losing the likes of Youri Tielemans, Morgan Rogers, Lucas Digne and now Konsa, that would hurt any team, because they are four key players and starters under Unai Emery.

"He's done amazing, whatever he's done. Qualified for the Champions League again, the Europa League last season. But look, if you continue to lose your best players, it's only going to hurt you in the long run."

Unai Emery 'not happy' with Aston Villa after two marquee sales 'come out of nowhere'

Could Unai Emery leave Aston Villa sooner than expected?

Emery's frustrations have been building once again throughout the summer transfer window, having finished last season with concerns already in place.

Following their return to Champions League football, the boss had hoped to add to what was a strong squad at Villa Park with additions to improve depth and quality.

However, Brown told Football Insider last month that Emery is not happy with the number of key players who have been allowed to leave his side this summer.

While there was an understanding that their spending would be limited without sales, the Spaniard was still reluctant to lose the most important players from his squad.

New signings have arrived to help balance the squad after the sales, but with a massive overhaul can also come inconsistency, and Emery's concerns have grown.
