Unai Emery rages at Aston Villa after new blow - 'He can’t keep doing this'
Unai Emery is becoming increasingly annoyed at Aston Villa as a result of their transfer activity, sources have told Football Insider.
Rumours have been lingering since the end of last season that the boss may not be entirely happy at Villa Park, amid suggestions he has not been properly backed.
Despite the impressive work he has done at Aston Villa, including leading them to the Champions League and winning the Europa League, he has not been backed financially.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Aston Villa cannot keep relying on Emery to get them out of difficult situations.
Having lost a number of key players this summer, most notably including Morgan Rogers and most recently Ezri Konsa, the boss has new concerns about the strength of his side.
Aston Villa have spent £150million on new signings since the window opened, but most have been direct replacements who will need time to bed into the system.
Why is Unai Emery frustrated at Aston Villa?
Football Insider revealed on 21 August that Emery has "serious" concerns about how Villa have handled their business this summer, with frustrations now beginning to build.
Those frustrations over what has been a turbulent transfer window have now been compounded by a massive opening-day defeat against Brighton in the Premier League.
Continued disappointments in the transfer window, and growing issues on the pitch, have led to questions about how much longer Emery will keep Aston Villa at the top.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "That's got to be a concern for Unai Emery. Villa, for the last couple of seasons, have been forced to lose some of their best players.
"Losing the likes of Morgan Rogers, Tielemans, Lucas Digne and now Konsa, that would hurt any team because they are four key players, four key starters in Unai Emery's team.
"Unai Emery has done an amazing job at Villa but he can't keep doing this, he can't keep pulling rabbits out of the hat really, which is what he's been doing at Aston Villa.
"He's done an amazing job, whatever he's done, qualified for the Champions League again, the Europa League last season.
"But look, if you continue to lose your best players, it's only going to hurt you in the long run."
Could Emery quit Aston Villa amid new frustrations?
Emery's future at Villa Park has been the subject of plenty of speculation over the last 12 months, with a slow start to last season's Premier League campaign raising similar concerns.
Despite that season utlimately ending on a high, another poor transfer window in which major assets have moved on will only lead to more concerns.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 23 August that Aston Villa have concerns about their new signings amid an understanding that they will take time to gel and adapt.
Villa have spent around £150million on new players this summer, landing the likes of Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomez and Zion Suzuki in an attempt to replace their big sales.
However, with such a significant overhaul, there is a feeling the players will need time to adapt to the Premier League and Emery's style, which could explain their slow start.
