Steven Thompson predicts weekend Rangers and Celtic clashes
BBC Scotland pundit Steven Thompson has predicted the matches between Rangers and St Johnstone and Hearts and Celtic.
On the Sportscene Extra Facebook show, the former Rangers player has predicted victories for both of the Glasgow giants, as both teams aim to keep their decent run of form.
On the match at Ibrox he said: “With Rangers showing consistency for the first time in a long time you’d be silly not to back a home win, I’m going for a 2-1 home win.”
With regards to the Scottish Premiership leaders’ trip to Tynecastle, Thompson said: “It was back to winning ways after defeating Hamilton in midweek, Celtic to win 2-0.”
Celtic’s last visit to Edinburgh saw them throw away a two goal lead in a 2-2 draw with Hibs.
The gap between the Glasgow giants at the top of the table is five points, with the Celts also having a game in hand over their old rivals, which will be played in the upcoming week against Partick Thistle.

The teams are set to meet at Celtic Park on the 30th of December in the last game before the Scottish winter break in January.
The first match between the teams in September saw Celtic win 2-0 at Ibrox thanks to goals from Tom Rogic and Leigh Griffiths.
The gap between the teams was as many as nine points at one stage of the season but interim Rangers manager Graeme Murty has got the Gers in a good run of form which has seen them leapfrog Aberdeen into second place in the league table and become the closest challengers to Celtic yet again.
