Former goalkeeper turned pundit Mark Schwarzer believes Tottenham would be the perfect fit for Premier League star Wilfried Zaha.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to north London since last summer and his fine form for Crystal Palace which have seen him bag six goals and provide nine in 28 appearances in all competitions would have only enticed more clubs his way.
However, the speed merchant has previously struggled away from Palace and he did spend two years away with Manchester United between 2013 and 2015 before returning with just four senior appearances to his name for the Red Devils.
But, BBC pundit Schwarzer believes it will be different with Tottenham, highlighting their system, stability and manager Mauricio Pochettino as perfect fits for the emerging star.
“Another interesting scenario could unfold at Palace,” started Schwarzer speaking on Saturday morning’s Football Focus programme aired on BBC One.
“We all know that Zaha has left in the past and gone to Manchester United, which didn’t work out well.
“I think Tottenham would be a different scenario for him. I think the system would suit him. Pochettino’s another manager who has done really well with the younger players and I think Zaha would see that possibly as a better option than when he went to Manchester United.
“There’s more stability at Tottenham, so again if a club like Spurs come in for him, that could really suit him and it would be very difficult for him to say no as well.”
Zaha boasts the ability to play on the left or right-wing, which are two positions Tottenham are currently playing without in their 5-2-2-1 formation.
However, Pochettino may look to a revert to a 4-2-3-1 set-up if he manages to bring in a player of Zaha’s qualities.
The north London club are also looking to progress each season under the Argentine boss and a player with the potential of the Palace man could prove the perfect signing.
