Tottenham fans rip into senior duo after displays v Burnley (not Janssen or Sissoko)
By Harvey Byrne
Tottenham fans tore into full-back duo Ben Davies and Kieran Trippier on Twitter after their displays against Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
The north London club ran out 2-0 victors at Turf Moor with goals coming from Eric Dier and Son Heung-min.
Both strikes came in the second half and for large parts of the match it looked as though Spurs may struggle to breakdown a very compact Burnley defence without stars Harry Kane, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose.
Now, despite being full-backs both Rose and Walker are often praised very highly for their threat going forward and they have certainly played a key role in Spurs’ attacking play this season.
However, many feel Davies and Trippier lack the attacking capabilities of the two first teamers and Tottenham fans on social media were especially critical of their performance on Saturday.

One supporter shared that they’d rate the pairs displays as ‘2/10’, while another said calling them “horrendous” would be being generous.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:
The poor ball retention of Kieran Trippier, Vincent Janssen and Ben Davies really makes it impossible to play good PochBall.

Can't do this formation with trippier and Davies they're not good enough. Need to go to 4-2-3-1, could use the extra attacker

Trippier and Davies are so dead man

I'd give Trippier and Davies a 2/10 so far.

So just a question to all the people telling me how good signings Davies and Trippier are…welp they've been terrible first half

Trippier and Davies reminds me of Austin & Edinburgh. All solid, but you won't end in the top 6 with them
— Martin Jelle (@jelleman1973) April 1, 2017
Davies & Trippier have been horrendous and that's being generous

Davies, 23, has now been at Tottenham for three years since joining from Swansea, while Trippier, 26, has been at the club for two years after moving from Burnley.
It is looking increasingly unlikely that they will ever displace Rose or Trippier in the team, as they suffered the same treatment by fans as attackers Vincent Janssen and Moussa Sissoko received on Saturday.
