Benitez delivers exciting Newcastle transfer update after win v West Ham

By Harvey Byrne

Manager Rafa Benitez has told that Newcastle will still try to bring in players that will bring something different to the squad following Saturday’s dominant 3-0 victory over West Ham.

The Magpies ran out comfortable winners at St. James’ Park with each of Joselu, Ciaran Clark and Aleksandar Mitrovic helping them to their first win of the 2017-18 campaign.

Spaniard Joselu is one of six players to have made the move to the north east of England this summer, including Christian Atsu on a permanent deal and Mikel Merino on loan.

However, despite the victory on Saturday Newcastle have not stopped with their spending and in an exciting transfer update Benitez said he was still looking for different alternatives to add to his squad.

“We will try and bring in players that will give us something different. We know these players,” said Benitez in his post-match interview, as covered by the BBC Sport live blog (Saturday, 5.35pm).

Newcastle lifted the Championship title in the last campaign in their only campaign in England’s second tier after suffering relegation in 2016.

They will be looking to avoid the drop zone again this season and their victory on Saturday has pushed them up to 15th place in the Premier League table

Newcastle will now be able to focus solely on the remaining days left in the transfer window with their next match coming up on September 10 against Swansea after the international break.

In other Newcastle transfer news, a Serie A side have made an approach for this Magpies 22-year-old.
