Better than £60m-rated Aston Villa ace: Fotheringham blown away by Celtic midfielder
By Amir Mir
Mark Fotheringham has revealed he was blown away by Celtic midfielder Callum McGrgor and believes he will have a “bigger future” than Aston Villa ace Jack Grealish.
Former Notts County midfielder Fotheringham played alongside the duo when they played together for the League One side during the 2013/14 campaign.
The highly-rated pair were key figures for the club at that time as they survived relegation from the third-tier of English football.
Since then, they have gone back to their respective clubs and are now regular members of their team, with McGregor plying his trade in Scotland’s top flight and Grealish in the Championship.
Despite the high expectancy levels of Grealish, who made his debut in England’s top flight as a teenager, Fotheringham believes it is the Scotsman who has the outstanding qualities.

“I first met him [McGregor] at Notts County and we hit it off right away,” Fotheringham told the Daily Record.
“Jack Grealish was actually on loan at Meadow Lane at the same time and Callum outshone him and he’s been touted for England and rated at millions of pounds.
“And if that’s the sort of price tag on Jack’s head then I would hate to hazard a guess what Callum would be worth. It would be at least the same anyway.
“I used to sit in the midfield with Jack and Callum at either side of me. They were two very big talents but for me Callum was always going to have the bigger future and I still believe that.”
Grealish was a key figure to the Villa team that made it to the final of the FA Cup in 2015 under Tim Sherwood with the former Spurs man famously stating that he wouldn’t even sell the player for £60million.
During their time at Notts County, McGregor played in various midfield roles for the club, making 37 league appearances and scoring 12 goals.
By contrast, Grealish was also used in various attacking roles, playing the same number of games, but scoring five goals and supplying seven assists.
Now, McGregor is working under the stewardship of Brendan Rodgers in the SPL where his side are on an unbeaten run in the SPL.
Whereas, Villa are struggling in the second tier of English football after their relegation for the first time in nearly three decades last term.
