Betting latest: Everton and Newcastle joint favourites to seal swoop for England international

Everton and Newcastle are joint favourites to sign Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw in the January transfer window, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.

BetVictor have the Merseyside and Tyneside clubs priced at 4/1 to snap up Shaw, 22, who has been frozen out of the United squad by manager Jose Mourinho.

Swansea (5/1), Chelsea (6/1) and Tottenham (6/1) also appear to be in the running to sign the seven-times England international by the time the next transfer window slams shut at the end of January.

Since joining Man United from Southampton in 2014, Shaw has struggled due to constant injuries and doesn’t appear to be at the level he once was.

He has made just two appearances for the Red Devils this season and both of those have come in the League Cup.

Mourinho has named the ex-Southampton defender on the bench just once in the Premier League, leaving him to play with the Under-23s squad at times.

That has led the Times to report that Man United are willing to flog the left-back in the January transfer window for around £20million – £10million less than what was paid for him in 2014.

It was understood that Turkish giants Fenerbahce had expressed an interest in taking him on loan, but United want to sell him for good, which could leave cash-strapped Newcastle out of the running.

In other Everton news, the odds have been slashed on the Toffees to raid this ultra-rich club for their highly-rated manager.
