Newcastle United have been installed joint-favourites to sign Leicester forward Kelechi Iheanacho during the January transfer window, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
BetVictor have Newcastle, Stoke and Besiktas all priced at 4/1 to snap up Iheanacho, 21, before the end of this month after his poor start to life at the King Power Stadium in the first half of this season.
Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr has said that he expects both Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa to leave Leicester in the coming weeks, however Claude Puel has since denied what their international boss has said.
Despite Puel’s claim they are going nowhere, Newcastle have been made among the front runners to sign Iheanacho while West Ham (6/1) and Southampton (8/1) are also seen to be in the running to snap up the Nigeria international at some point in the January transfer window.
Iheanacho has not scored a single Premier League goal since making a £25million move from Manchester City to the King Power in the summer.
He has only made two league starts for the Foxes and has not even managed to get on the pitch in England’s top-flight since November.
The striker was in top form at Man City before moving to Leicester but had dropped down the pecking order when Gabriel Jesus was snapped up.
In other Newcastle United news, this striker wanted by the Magpies is on the verge of making a move after completing his medical.
