Rangers are in the running to sign Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
PaddyPower have priced it at 7/1 for Sturridge, 28, to join Steven Gerrard at Ibrox in the coming months.
The England international has been on loan at West Brom since January, however he has failed to score a single goal having only managed to make five Premier League appearances due to injury.
The Daily Mail reported that the Baggies had agreed to pay the entirety of Sturridge’s £120,000-a-week wages while he was at The Hawthorns.
Football Insider verdict
It would certainly be a shock to see Sturridge wind up at Ibrox this summer as yet another Liverpool player is linked with a move to join Gerrard at Rangers. There’s little chance that the club would be able to afford Sturridge’s wage demands and the chances of seeing this deal come through are slim to zero. The England international has had a really tough time this season. He struggled to get into Jurgen Klopp’s first team plans in the first half of the campaign and his move to West Brom was meant to revive his chances at Anfield. However further injury has probably led to the end of his Liverpool career while also playing a large role in the Baggies’ relegation. There are bound to be clubs queuing up to sign Sturridge in the summer, but they are all probably going to be in the Premier League. It’s a shame to see how Sturridge has struggled recently. He could have been one on of England’s best forwards if he was able to stay injury-free.
