Wolves are joint-favourites to re-sign Bournemouth centre-forward Benik Afobe before the end of the January transfer window, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
BetVictor have installed Wolves and Crystal Palace joint-favourites at 6/1 to seal a swoop for Afobe, 24, during the transfer window and the Express reported last month that Premier League side Bournemouth have valued him at £15million.
West Brom were said to be battling their Black Country rivals for the DR Congo international, but it appears that the Molineux club are in pole position to snap up their former striker this month.
Huddersfield (10/1) and Swansea (10/1) are also in the running to sign Afobe from Bournemouth while Aston Villa (12/1) and West Brom (12/1) are among the outsiders.
Afobe has been a regular feature in Eddie Howe’s side this season, but he has only made five Premier League starts.
In 22 appearances across all competitions, mostly off the bench, the ex-Arsenal striker has scored just one goal, which came against Middlesbrough in the League Cup.
Afobe left Wolves for Bournemouth for a fee of £10million in January 2016 after a couple of prolific seasons at Molineux in which he made 48 total appearances and scored 23 goals.
Nuno Espirito Santo has already snapped up one forward this month in Rafa Mir from Valencia, but it seems that according to the bookies he is in the hunt for another.
In other Wolves news, the club may sanction the sale of this in-demand centre-back after an offer was made.
