Betting latest: Yorkshire rivals installed favourites to sign Leeds star
By Harvey Byrne
Close Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield are the favourites to sign Leeds star striker Chris Wood this summer, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Sky Bet have priced the newly promoted Terriers at 9/2 to land Wood before the 3 September transfer deadline.
Relegated side Middlesbrough, who former manager Garry Monk has been heavily linked to trails behind David Wagner’s side at odds of 8/1, while south east London team Crystal Palace also follow with a price of 9/1.
Wood lit up the Championship last season and was a standout star for the Leeds team which finished in seventh place in the second tier with 27 goals from 44 appearances.
However, the club may now find that they find it hard to keep the 25-year-old given their failure to win promotion alongside the departure of successful manager Monk.

Now, Wagner’s Huddersfield won promotion in nail biting style in May with a 4-3 penalty shootout victory needed in the play-off final Wembley clash against Reading.
The Terriers will now be scouring the market for players who they feel can help them remain in the Premier League and after Wood’s last season goal return they may now look to making him their main man in the next campaign.
In other Leeds transfer news, the Whites are keeping tabs on this Spanish 28-year-old.
