West Ham are strong favourites to sign Southampton star Dusan Tadic this summer, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
The Sun claimed last month that the 43-time Serbia international is high on the radar of the Hammers along with Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi and Man City’s Kelechi Iheanacho.
Now, Sky Bet claim Tadic is just 15/8 to join Slaven Bilic’s side as the Hammers look to bring in the necessary personnel to put a dismal 2016-17 campaign behind them.
West Ham finished in a poor 12th place in the Premier League this season, despite qualifying for the Europa League in seventh during the 2015-16 campaign.
Now, Bilic could bring in Tadic to finally replace Dimitri Payet, after the France international rejoined Marseille in the summer.
However, West Ham could be rivalled by Premier League new boys Newcastle, who are second favourites to claim the signature of the Saints attacker but are way out at 16/1.
Signed from FC Twente, Southampton’s number 11 still has three years to run on his current contract on the south coast and it remains to be seen how much he would cost.
This season, Tadic has had a hand in one goal every four games. Scoring three times, Tadic has also laid on eight assists during his 44 league and cup encounters.
Football Insider verdict:
Fleet-footed winger Tadic would be a top signing for the Hammers as he has proven that he is capable of having an impact in the Premier League. Bilic decided to sign Robert Snodgrass in order to try and replace the exploits of Payet in January, but the Scotland international has failed to shine in east London. Unable to score and supplying just two assists in 15 games, Snodrgass could be set to leave this summer and bringing in Tadic would not only provide quality in the final third, but cover too. However, the Hammers could easily overspend on Tadic and it is important that Bilic gets value for money.
In other West Ham transfer news, the Hammers are reportedly set to rival Inter Milan for 26-year-old.
