Sources: Birmingham City in advanced talks to sign Stoke midfielder Woods
Birmingham City are in advanced talks to sign Stoke City midfielder Ryan Woods, Football Insider has learned.
The Championship club are working on luring the 27-year-old after he spent the last 18 months on loan at Millwall.
A source has told Football Insider negotiations are progressing well and Birmingham are confident they can finalise a deal for Woods.
Stoke have given the green light for the midfield anchorman to leave permanently as they look to trim their squad.
This site learned on 16 June the Potters are willing to let striker Sam Vokes to leave with Shrewsbury Town interested in a loan deal.
Both Vokes and Woods have just 12-months left to run on their contracts.

Stoke have already lost Liam Lindsay who joined Championship rivals Preston North End earlier this month on a permanent deal after a successful loan spell.
Woods has spent the last season-and-a-half out on loan at Millwall under his former Stoke boss Gary Rowett.
He has played 63 times for Millwall but Rowett admitted in February, via South London Press, a permanent deal may be difficult.
The Englishman was a regular at Stoke under the manager who brought him to the club but has played just 14 Championship games for Stoke since Rowett’s sacking in January 2019.
In total, Woods has provided one assist in 39 games across all competitions for the Potters.
Stoke finished last season in 14th-position, 17 points behind the play-off positions.
