Leeds United are confident of signing Birmingham City starlet Amari Miller by 1st July, Football Insider has learned.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider that the deal is being worked on and all parties believe it can be completed by 1st July.

That would enable the teenage star to link up with United in time for their pre-season return in early July.

The potential capture of Miller would be a major coup for Leeds given the level of interest in his signature.

Miller’s future at St Andrew's has been up in the air as the club look to overhaul their youth set-up.

The club confirmed last month that the youngster was one of five second-year scholars to be offered professional terms.

But it now looks likely that Miller has played the last of his five senior matches for Birmingham.

He broke into the first team at the end of last season, and ended the campaign with consecutive starts against Cardiff City and Blackburn Rovers.

Leeds have been aggressive in their pursuit of the country's best young talent after their academy was given Category 1 status last summer.

Mark Jackson's Under-23 side romped to the Premier League 2 Division 2 title last season.
