Bobby Thomas: Coventry City’s new stance revealed as West Ham offer lined up
Bobby Thomas is seen as a crucial part of Frank Lampard’s side and Coventry City will block any offers for him amid interest from West Ham United.
The Hammers have been keeping a close eye on the 25-year-old as they aim to bolster their defensive options if they remain in the Premier League next season.
However, after Lampard’s side secured promotion from the Championship, they are confident they can keep their best players at the club.
Former Coventry assistant manager Mick Brown told Football Insider that Thomas is highly regarded at the CBS Arena and is set to play a key role for them next season.
Alongside West Ham’s transfer plans, a number of other clubs are believed to be keeping tabs on the centre-back, but Coventry are making efforts to keep him.

As well as the interest from West Ham, Football Insider previously reported Brentford have considered a move for Thomas and have been keeping tabs on him.
His displays in Lampard’s team this season have seen his stock rise again, with the likes of Everton, West Ham and Leeds joining the race for his signature.

However, Coventry are well aware of the player’s qualities and have no plans to let him leave as they continue their preparations for the Premier League.
“Coventry are making efforts to keep Bobby Thomas,” Brown told Football Insider.
“They are assessing their squad after winning promotion to the Premier League, and they regard him as one of the players who can make the step up.
“They also have to consider where they would go to get somebody better than him, and that would be a difficult task given how influencial he has been.
“I remember watching him while he was at Barnsley and I was very impressed by him, and he’s got better and better until he is where he is now.
“West Ham are one of the clubs I’m told have been having a look at him, but from a Coventry point of view, I don’t see any way they would let him go.
“He’s been such an important part of their team, Frank Lampard loves him, and they know they have to keep their best players at the club.”
How does Thomas feel about leaving Coventry?
Thomas remains under contract at the CBS Arena until 2027, and confessed in February that he would evaluate his contract situation at the end of the season.
At the time, he insisted he was focused on reaching Coventry’s goals, one of which they have already achieved, and talk about his future is now set to ramp up.

Brown told Football Insider in January that Thomas could be tempted to leave Coventry amid interest from West Ham as he is keen to make the step up.
However, after Coventry achieved promotion to the Premier League with the Championship title now firmly in their sights, he will be happy to stay.
Suggestions of his potential departure during the mid-season window were dismissed given Coventry’s position in the league, and that has now paid off.
