Bojan Miovski ready to step towards Rangers exit as Lawrence Shankland swoop imminent

Bojan Miovski could soon be on his way out of Rangers just one season after his arrival from Girona.

The striker returned to the Scottish Premiership with big expectations attached, after he previously notched 26 goals in all competitions for Aberdeen back in 2023-24.

However, he has seriously struggled to hit those heights since moving to Ibrox, and has been left to play second fiddle to Youssef Chermiti for large parts of the campaign.

Ryan Naderi’s arrival back in January has also pushed the 26-year-old further down Danny Rohl’s pecking order, to the point where he started just one of his team’s five post-split games.

Rangers are now eyeing a move for Lawrence Shankland after another goal-laden season for Hearts, and the implications of a deal are already clear for Miovski.

Lawrence Shankland move sure to trigger exit push from Bojan Miovski

Football Insider revealed back in February that Miovski could push to leave Rangers this summer, amid concerns regarding the gametime that he has received under Rohl so far.

The frontman made the switch to Ibrox last summer under the impression that he would be the club’s leading striker, but that simply hasn’t been the case so far.

Miovski has been unhappy with the bit-part role that he has played at times in recent months, and that has left him ready to evaluate his options regarding a potential exit ahead of 2026-27.

The news of Rangers’ imminent move for Shankland, which could be sealed within the next 48 hours according to the Scottish Sun, will surely leave Miovski in no doubt over where he stands.

Shankland’s arrival would force him even further down the pecking order, and he would surely have no desire to be the fourth-choice striker at this stage of his career.

Rangers will be looking to raise funds in order to facilitate the overhaul that they are hoping for ahead of next season, and Miovski could be about to hand them a perfect opportunity to do so.

Is Miovski part of mutiny in Rangers squad?

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that Rohl could be facing a mutiny in the Rangers squad after his recent bust-up with James Tavernier.

Tavernier’s absence from what would have been his final appearance at Ibrox has split the fanbase, and Brown believes that it will also have split those inside the dressing room.

Rohl has been under pressure after some poor results, and although he still has the backing of the club hierarchy, Brown suggested that there may be players who are rapidly losing faith in him.

Miovski will surely be part of that group, given that he has not had many chances to impress under the German, and would undoubtedly like to see his own personal situation improve.
