Adrien Truffert is the exception that appears to prove Bournemouth rule
Adrien Truffert has been the one bright spark emerging from Bournemouth's defence this season in the Premier League.
The Cherries have been quite poor at the back since the return to top-flight football, with manager Marco Rose facing early difficulties.
The South Coast club have not won a single game in six fixtures, and are sitting on just three points.
However, more worryingly is their defensive record in the Premier League.
Rose's side are top of the charts for goals conceded, a top spot they will wish they didn't hold.
But, much to Truffert's efforts, it is far from the Frenchman's fault, with teammates needing to follow his example if things are to turn around.
The example Adrien Truffert is setting at Bournemouth
Bournemouth have conceded 13 goals in six matches, a feat only matched by Chelsea, and not beaten by anyone else.
The Cherries are sitting 17th, and Rose will have to turn things around as soon as possible.
The injury to star midfielder Alex Scott has certainly not helped, but fixing the defensive issues must start on the training ground.
And Rose could look to Truffert as an example of what is required.
In the Premier League so far, no defender has completed more tackles than the Bournemouth left-back with a total of 21, according to Sofascore.
Additionally, defensive issues can also stem from losing the ball, and Truffert has excelled in avoiding that.
Among Bournemouth's typically used back four, including Adam Smith, James Hill and Antonio Silva, the Frenchman has the fewest misplaced passes.
Truffert comes in with just 30 innaccurate passes, while centre-back Hill tops the Premier League list with 79.
Another example of a Bournemouth player needing to follow Truffert's lead.
Bournemouth could be set for Truffert approaches
If Truffert continues to impress on a league-wide scale as he is doing with tackles, there will certainly be plenty of interest in him come January.
As Football Insider have previously reported, Manchester United are regularly scouting Truffert.
The Red Devils are in need of a left-back signing, and he could prove to be the right acquisition.
Bournemouth's squad has often been taken apart during transfer windows, with the Cherries doing well to replace those who have left.
However, with a season in Europe, they will want to keep the majority of their starters around for the entire season.
