Arsenal's chances of signing Eli Junior Kroupi in January revealed

Bournemouth have no plans to let Eli Junior Kroupi leave in January as Arsenal plot a new move for his services, sources have told Football Insider.

Kroupi scored 13 goals in 33 Premier League appearances last season as he fired Bournemouth to Europa League qualification for this term.

The French youth international surpassed Robbie Keane and Robbie Fowler to break the record for the most goals scored in a single Premier League season by a teenager.

He emerged onto Arsenal's radar during the summer window, with Spurs and PSG also linked to his services.

Recent reports have stated that the Gunners are set to renew their interest in Kroupi in the January window, but they will find it hard to complete a deal midway through the campaign.

Bournemouth were demanding over £80million for his signature in the summer and are set to ask for a similar fee in the new year.

Kroupi's pre-season injury concerns put paid to any move away from Bournemouth happening in the summer window.

He suffered a fractured metatarsal in July and underwent successful surgery that is set to keep him sidelined until late October.

Sources exclusively revealed to Football Insider before his injury that Arsenal were ahead of Spurs in the race for Kroupi's services due to their willingness to spend a bigger fee.

Mikel Arteta only bolstered his attacking ranks with one signing, in Christos Tzolis, while letting the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus depart the Emirates.

Bournemouth will be boosted by Kroupi's return soon, and thus have no plans to let him leave in the middle of a key season for the club, so Arsenal could well have to wait until next summer to seal his signature.

What has Marco Rose said about Kroupi's future?

Bournemouth are yet to win a Premier League game under new boss Rose, despite managing to retain the majority of their key players from last season.

Alex Scott was also heavily linked away from the Vitality Stadium throughout the window, but also remained at the club.

Rose was asked about his delight at keeping him and Kroupi beyond the summer window last week, saying: "They know they're Bournemouth players for the next 12 months and I'm grateful to the club for that."

The Cherries manager has clearly hinted at Kroupi staying for the whole campaign, indicating the club's plans to keep him in January.
