Brandon Williams is set to leave Manchester United this summer after he was told he is free to find a new club, sources have told Football Insider.

The full-back is out of contract at the end of June having spent the season on loan at Ipswich Town as they secured promotion from the Championship.

Williams, still just 23, played a bit-part role with only 15 appearances in the second tier this season and it has become clear that he no longer has a future at Old Trafford.

He has also been surrounded by controversy of late for his antics off the field, having been handed a driving ban. (The Mirror, 3 May)

With yet another busy summer expected amid plenty of change in the United hierarchy, Williams could be just one of several exits including Casemiro and Antony, who sources say they are willing to take a loss on.

With Williams' contract set to run out this summer and no new deal on the horizon, he will have to begin searching for new clubs, with his current loan club Ipswich also looking unlikely to extend his deal beyond this season.

Football Insider reported at the time that a possible option to buy had been discussed with Ipswich, but no deal was struck.

However, his 15 Championship appearances have seen him fail to feature for the Tractor Boys since December after he was sent back to Carrington to recover an unnamed injury blow.

There had been high hopes for the full-back after a breakthrough season in the 2020-21 season, with the club blocking any talk of an exit, although he has so far failed to reach that potential.

Seemingly constant issues with the law also paint the club in a bad light and Manchester United will be keen to avoid any further damage to their public image after recent controversies.
