Man United have put the block on Brandon Williams being loaned out this month, Football Insider has been told.

The left-back, 20, has been the subject of enquiries from multiple clubs including Sheffield United, Newcastle United and Southampton.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that United have let it be known that Williams is set to stay at Old Trafford beyond next Monday's cut-off.

Manager Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer wants the versatile young defender as cover amid a congested fixture list in the second half of the campaign.

It is said the situation will only change if there is a late U-turn from the club management.

This comes as Williams' more senior teammate Jesse Lingard closes in on a loan move to West Ham.

Williams has slipped down the left-back pecking order at United this season.

Luke Shaw's outstanding form has made him the undisputed first choice, with 2020 summer signing Alex Telles his main back-up.

Williams has made just six senior appearances for United this season after his breakthrough 2019-20 campaign.

He has not started a single Premier League match this season and has failed to make the matchday squad for the last 10 games in the competition.

Nevertheless, he is highly rated by Solskjaer and company after graduating from the United youth ranks to make 42 first-team appearances despite only turning 20 last September.
