Everton have joined the race to sign Rangers colossus Connor Goldson in the summer window, Football Insider has learned.

The Premier League big spenders are in the market for defensive reinforcements and will look to bring in at least one senior centre-back.

An Everton source has told Football Insider that recruitment chief Marcel Brands is eyeing potential targets and Goldson is among those he has set his sights on.

Goldson is a wanted man after reigniting his career in Scotland following his £3million transfer from Brighton 18 months ago.

He has barely missed a minute of first-team action since his arrival and Steven Gerrard spoke glowingly of him at his media conference today.

Rangers are aware of the growing interest in the 27-year-old, who will have two years left on his contract at the end of the campaign.

As revealed by Football Insider last month, he is also a target for Premier League outfit West Ham and Championship promotion chasers Leeds United, West Brom and Fulham.

Mason Holgate and Yerry Mina have emerged as the first choice central defensive partnership in Carlo Ancelotti’s much-improved side, with Michael Keane relegated to third choice.

Goldson has already made a remarkable 41 appearances this season, all of them starts, and the only games he has missed were early-round domestic cup clashes against Stranraer and East Fire.

The 6ft 3in defender has been a pillar of the Rangers team since his arrival and has clocked up 95 appearances in all competitions.

In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that the club have agreed terms of new £4.5million deal.
