Rodgers highlights quality which sets Celtic star above rest after devastating performance

Celtic manager Brendan has raved about the “hunger” of James Forrest after the attacker bagged a hat-trick in a devastating display against Partick Thistle on Saturday.
Forrest’s treble secured the Hoops’ place in the quarter-finals of the competition despite a late rally from Thistle to bring it back to 3-2 and set up a nervy ending for the champions.
Rodgers’ side held on until the end and will go into Sunday’s draw for the last-eight thanks to Forrest’s goals.
Rodgers thought the Scotland star was “absolutely outstanding” as he put Alan Archibald’s side to the sword after opening the scoring in the second minute, and highlighted the desire to score as what set him apart from the rest of the Hoops side.
“He has that hunger to score goals and all three of his goals were absolutely outstanding. He was the class player on the pitch and thoroughly deserves his match-ball,” Rodgers said, as quoted by Celtic’s offical Twitter account.

Forrest took his tally for the season to 16 goals in 42 appearances as he looks to lift the Scottish Cup for a remarkable fourth time as a Celtic player.
The 26-year-old has been a key part of Brendan Rodgers’ side – despite coming in for some criticism over his performances – and put in a fantastic shift against Thistle to earn the match-ball for his efforts.
Celtic will find out who they face in the quarter-finals on Sunday night when the draw is made immediately after Aberdeen and Dundee United face off in the final fifth round tie.
