Exclusive: Brighton make approach to sign winger after Liverpool bid for Yakubah Minteh
Brighton and Hove Albion have made contact over signing Huddersfield Town winger Cameron Ashia, sources have told Football Insider.
The Seagulls are keen to sign the 21-year-old before the close of the summer window, and have now made contact with the Terriers over a possible deal.
This could potentially have ramifications for Liverpool's attempts to lure Brighton winger Yakubah Minteh after they had an initial £50million bid rejected.
The South Coast outfit are big admirers of the young wideman, but face significant competition from across Europe for his signature.
Bundesliga side Hamburg have also made an enquiry, while Anderlecht are also in contact with Huddersfield over their starlet.
Ashia is out of contract at the Accu Stadium in June 2027, and the interested clubs are hopeful that they will be able to prise him away as a result.
The youngster notched six goals and three assists for the League One side in all competitions last term, and is tipped to have a big future ahead of him.
Cameron Ashia likened to Jeremy Doku
Ashia enjoyed a breakthrough season at Huddersfield last term, and that has caught the attention of top-level clubs from across Europe.
Brighton will be hoping to win the race for his signature in the coming weeks, although the Bundesliga has proven to be a hugely successful route for several young English players in recent years.
Ashia is viewed as a future star in West Yorkshire, and is expected to kick on for Huddersfield in 2026-27 after impressing last time out.
He has even been likened to Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku in recent years, due to his "explosive pace" and "direct" dribbling style.
Brighton view Ashia as a player who has the potential to play at the top level in English football, but they will have to fend off competition for his services.
Brighton ready to accept Amario Cozier-Duberry offer
Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Brighton have placed a £10million valuation on young winger Amario Cozier-Duberry amid interest from Rangers.
The Glasgow giants have already seen a £7m offer rejected by the Seagulls, who have now made it clear what it will take for a deal to take place.
Fabian Hurzeler's side are keen to keep Cozier-Duberry if possible, but are likely to accept an offer if their valuation is met.
The 21-year-old starred during a loan spell with Bolton in 2025-26, as he nothced eight goals and 10 assists in League One.
