Alan Hutton heaped praise on Aston Villa duo Jack Grealish and Conor Hourihane for their performances in the 5-1 win over Norwich City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-Villans defender who left the club in the summer shared he was split when deciding who deserved the Man of the Match award after the victory against the Canaries.
Hutton revealed that he thought Hourihane was brilliant due to setting up a goal, winning a penalty and getting on the scoresheet, but that Grealish also deserved to be named MOTM due to being involved in everything.
Hutton revealed he was probably leaning towards Grealish being his Man of the Match before back-tracking slightly to admit it was difficult to rate one player above the other.
When asked who was his Man of the Match against Norwich, Hutton told Football Insider: “At first, I thought after sixty minutes, Conor Hourihane, I thought he was brilliant, Wesley obviously scored, Jack stepped up again and I think he is getting better and he scored.
“I’m probably going to lean towards Jack as he was involved in everything, even though Conor set-up a goal, got a penalty and scored, I mean it’s really difficult, but between Jack and Conor.”
Grealish has played every minute of Aston Villa’s Premier League campaign so far and registered two assists as well as scored one goal in his outings.
Whereas Hourihane has been sparingly-used by Dean Smith as he has only started 38% of the Villans’ Premier League games so far this season.
