Sheffield Wednesday are among several clubs chasing Swedish international defender Alexander Milosevic, Football Insider understands.
Milosevic is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract with AIK in his native homeland at the end of December.
New Sheffield Wednesday boss Steve Bruce is keen to strengthen his squad during this month’s transfer window and has made defensive reinforcements one of his top priorities.
The Owls have the third worst defensive record in the Championship this season, having conceded 42 goals in 26 games so far this term
Milosevic, who is pushing Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof in the Sweden national team, would fit in with Wednesday’s transfer plans being a free agent as money is tight at Hillsborough with the club working under tight guidelines to avoid breaking FFP financial regulation.
The 26-year-old, who captained Sweden in their friendly with Finland earlier this month, is also a target for Spanish clubs Elche, Las Palmas and Valladolid as well as several Major League Soccer sides.
Milosevic boasts a wealth of experience having had spells in Sweden, Turkey and Germany in his career to date.
In other Yorkshire giants transfer news, it can be revealed the club have opened preliminary talks to sign the leader scorer of the league leaders.
